Description: Old-fashioned, tall and vigorous garden annual that is regaining popularity due to its unusual airy inflorescences. Abnormally-long stamens give the flowers a spidery appearance.
Origin: Southeastern Brazil, Argentina.
Height x width: 3 to 4 feet tall and 1.5 to 2 feet wide.
Growth habit: Upright, bushy
Foliage: Palmately compound with 5 to 7 long, pointed leaflets, usually with short spines at the base; hairy and slightly spiny stems; strong and rather unpleasant odor
Flowers: Numerous petals about 1 inch long with stamens 2 to 3 inches long, borne on long pedicels, all summer. Pink or white colors. Flowers produce slender seed capsules.
Culture: Full sun to partial shade and moist but well-drained soil. Grows well in hot weather. Deadhead for optimum flowering. Reseeds
Uses: Border, cut flowers
Propagation: Seed.
