Notes:
Growth habit: Erect
Foliage: Alternate, flat but fern-like with a strong, spicy odor
Flowers: Yellow, flat-topped panicles consisting of numerous small flower heads ion June and July, and later if regularly deadheaded.
Culture: Full sun and well-drained soil
Pests and problems: Spreads by rhizomes and can become a weed if not controlled.
Uses: Border, cut flowers, dried flowers
Propagation: Seeds, division
Cultivars and hybrids: ‘Coronation Gold’ – a 3-foot tall cultivar with strong, straight stems and good gold color; best for drying. ‘Gold Plare is 4 to 4 ˝ feet tall and large, mustard yellow flowers. Achillea x ‘Moonshine’ – A hybrid yarrow with beautiful; silver-gray feathery foliage and bright yellow flowers, 2 feet tall, shown at right.
