Plant type: Semi-woody shrub that dies back to the ground and is grown like a perennial
Height x width: 3 to 5 feet tall and wide
Growth habit: Upright
Foliage: Opposite, narrow, sometimes toothed, up to 3.5 inches long, pale green with gray undersides
Flowers: Many small violet- to lavender-blue flowers held in a tight cyme almost encircle the stem in late summer and autumn; 2 cymes per leaf axil near the end of the shoot
Culture: Full sun and well-drained soils. Plant dies in wet winter soil. Fairly drought-tolerant
Uses: Border, specimen, container, cut flower
Propagation: Cuttings
Cultivars:
‘Dark Knight’ - The flowers of 'Dark Knight' are darker than any other cultivar.36 to 60 inches tall.
‘Sunshine Blue’ - Larger, bright yellow foliage and rich, amethyst blue flowers late in the season. 48 inches tall.
